Would it be better to drive to the hospital oneself if one lives near it?

Lets say someone is having a heart attack and they live less than a mile away. Would it not be better for their family member to drive them than to have to wait for an ambulance to arrive. Besides instead of waiting you would be on your way to the place the ambulance would take you
