In the 1860's, were the ideologies of Republicans and Democrats flipped?

Not so much flipped.... The manifesto for each party had just slowly evolved from previous manifesto's that eventually left was right and right was left. Democrats today had different views from the democrats of yesterday and republicans have taken a more conservative stance from the past.
