I am working overseas. I don't reach my 330 until August 1. Should I file an extension or amend my taxes?

I am debating between filing my taxes now and doing an amendment once August arrives vs. filing an extension now and just file my taxes in August? What are the benefits/drawbacks of both? Does one or the other increase my chance of being audited? Thanks in advance.
